B2 level (CEFR)
Students can understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization.
Students can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers possible.
Students can produce clear, detailed texts on a wide range of topics and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue, specifying the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
The course will mainly focus on the textual analysis of authentic materials related to the following thematic area:
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (UN: 2030 Agenda).
The teaching-learning process will follow a communicative approach and will include a variety of activities, from lectures to classroom interaction both among students and with the teacher. By playing an active role in class discussions and taking part in pair and group work, the students will have an opportunity to consolidate their communicative competence.
Oral presentations and debate sessions will be organized to stimulate discussion and improve students' speaking skills.
An oral exam will assess the acquisition of notions (content as well as textual and discursive features of the materials examined), alongside consolidation of the speaking skill and, more generally, of the communicative competence as indicated in the Educational Goals.
