Capacità di analizzare, utilizzare e valutare criticamente la lingua inglese a livello avanzato, con particolare riferimento alle specificità della comunicazione internazionale in ambito accademico e delle professioni.
“Negotiating meaning in academic and professional English" (II semestre). Il corso si propone di illustrare le soluzioni adottate nell''inglese specialistico per evitare interpretazioni fuorvianti e superare i possibili conflitti insiti nella comunicazione professionale e scientifica.
Lezioni frontali (eventualmente in modalità remota).
Gli studenti potranno anche accedere alle attività di esercitazione linguistica offerte per il loro livello di competenza.
Esame orale FREQUENTANTI: discussione dei testi analizzati durante le lezioni e del materiale distribuito in aula. NON FREQUENTANTI: discussione del testo “Academic English in Parallel-Language and ELF Settings”.

An ability to analyse, employ and critically assess the English language at an advanced level, with special reference to the specific traits of international communication in the fields of academia and the professions.
“Negotiating meaning in academic and professional English" (2nd semester). This module describes the choices adopted in specialised English to avoid misleading intepretations and to overcome the potential conflicts inherent in professional and academic usage.
Lectures (possibly in remote mode).
Students may also access language practice support suited to their level of knowledge.
Oral exam for ATTENDING students: discussion of handouts and material analysed during lectures. For NON-ATTENDING students: discussion of “Academic English in Parallel-Language and ELF Settings”.
