Industrial technical drawing
¬¬ The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge related to modern virtual prototyping technologies, that is the creation of the "digital twin" of a product, machine or plant, and of physical prototyping through Additive Manufacturing technologies. The themes characterizing industry 4.0 will be addressed, with particular attention to new technologies to support design, such as Advanced Reverse Engineering, Design for Additive Manufacturing, Product Shape Optimization and Digital Human Modeling. At the end of the course the student has all the tools that allow him to create a virtual prototype and manage it for several purposes in the phases of the product life cycle
Product development process and product life cycle. Role of the virtual prototype in the phases of product development. Evolution of the product modeling and simulation concept. Advanced Reverse Engineering techniques, processing of polygonal surfaces. Additive manufacturing technologies. Design for Additive Manufacturing, topological and structural optimizers and their role in creating virtual and physical prototypes. Prototyping of the human body for the simulation of human-machine interaction. Ergonomics of products and workplaces.
Course handsout
The teaching will take place through lectures and guided practical exercises for the use of 3D modelling and simulation systems. The exercises will be carried out allowing the student to work with increasing autonomy but with constant supervision and support.
The exam consists of two parts to be taken in the same day:
1. realization and presentation of a product development project-work to be carried out in a group (max 3 people) on a pre-established theme (80% of the final grade)
2. oral examination on the contents of the lectures (20% of the final grade)
