Assenza di Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi in Lingua inglese (superamento TVI), come previsto dal Regolamento didattico del corso.
Gli studenti, in linea con gli obiettivi previsti dal Corso di Laurea, affineranno capacità comunicative, espressive e argomentative nella lingua inglese a livello B1 (Threshold) e, sul piano metalinguistico, acquisiranno consapevolezza delle specificità dello Standard English e di come esso venga utilizzato in contesti scritti e orali.
Dopo una premessa di carattere generale su aspetti pragmatici della lingua inglese, il corso si prefigge di illustrare le principali strategie utilizzate in vari contesti (soprattutto nella comunicazione interculturale) per enfatizzare la chiarezza dell’informazione, l’efficacia comunicativa, la cortesia e la persuasione nei confronti dell'interlocutore.
La didattica si svolgerà tramite lezioni frontali, ma con un’attenzione particolare al confronto e al dialogo diretto con gli studenti, che potranno, durante le lezioni, formulare proposte di approfondimento o dibattito. Gli studenti potranno inoltre accedere alle attività di esercitazione linguistica previste nell’ambito dell’orario settimanale per il loro livello di competenza (B1), nonché alle attività di tutoring previste nel corso dell’anno.
Prova scritta + esame orale.
La prova scritta e l’esame orale possono essere sostenuti soltanto al termine del corso. Per accedere all’esame orale lo studente dovrà aver superato la prova scritta.
La prova scritta è informatizzata, della durata di 30+15 minuti - la prima parte (30 min.) testa abilità di listening, reading, use of English e la seconda parte (15 min.) abilità di traduzione (lessico, morfosintassi) - tramite esercizi chiusi (scelta multipla e cloze) (Vedi Testi 3-4). L’esito del test informatizzato (della validità di 18 mesi) sarà pubblicato sulla pagina del corso nei giorni immediatamente successivi alla data dell’esame. Il superamento della prova dà accesso all’esame orale (a condizione che lo studente si iscriva all’appello entro i tempi previsti).
Qualora l'insegnamento venisse impartito in modalità mista o a distanza potranno essere introdotte
modifiche rispetto a quanto dichiarato nel syllabus per rendere il corso e gli esami fruibili anche
secondo queste modalità.

Gli studenti che nel corso degli ultimi 5 anni solari abbiano conseguito certificazioni internazionali almeno a livello B1 sono invitati a chiederne il riconoscimento alla Segreteria Studenti, al fine di ottenere gli esoneri previsti.
La modulistica per chiedere il riconoscimento delle certificazioni sopra citate è disponibile sul sito internet d'Ateneo (nella sezione dedicata al Centro Competenza Lingue).
As indicated in the Course Prospectus, students wishing to take this exam must have passed the English language entry test (TVI).
In line with the objectives of the Course, students will improve their communicative, expressive and argumentative skills in English - B1 (Threshold) level, and will acquire metalinguistic awareness of the main features of Standard English and its use in both oral and written communication.
After a general overview of pragmatic issues in contemporary English, the course aims to illustrate the main strategies employed when communicating in different contexts and across cultures, taking into consideration aspects like informativeness, effectiveness, persuasion and politeness.
Classes will consist in lectures, where students are expected to have an active role in discussing the content being presented and suggesting ways of dealing with it. Students have also access to the applied language activity at B1 level and tutoring support.
Written test + oral exam
The written test and the oral exam may be taken only at the end course. In order to take the oral exam, students will have to pass the written test.
The written part of the exam is a 30+15 min. computerized test - the first part (30 min.) testing skills like listening, reading, use of English and the second part (15 min.) translation skills (lexis, morpho-syntax) - through multiply choice and cloze type exercises (Text 3-4). The result of the computerized test will be published on the course page a few days (1-2) after the date of the test.
The oral exam consists in two interrelated parts:
- testing of the students’ linguistic and communicative skills (i.e. through the translation of short sentences)
- discussion (in English) of the contents of the course (Text 1-2): questions are intended to verify the student’s competence as to the course content (notions, principles, models, strategies and their use in practical contexts)
The grading will be based on 1) linguistic correctness, 2) clarity and coherence, and 3) competence as to the course content.
Should the course be taught as a blended or online activity, some adjustments (with respect to what stated in the syllabus) may be necessary – and will be indicated on the course page – in order to make the course and the exams more easily accessible.

Students with a B1 certificate obtained in the last 5 years should present it to the Segreteria Studenti in order to obtain the exemption from parts of the exam, as indicated on the University website.
