Buona conoscenza della lingua inglese.
Per gli studenti che scelgono l'intero corso di Letteratura inglese III bis (moduli C+D): superamento dell’esame di Lingua Inglese II e Letteratura inglese o angloamericana o postcoloniale II.
Fornire conoscenze e competenze indispensabili per lo studio della letteratura e della cultura britannica, così come dei relativi approcci critici, in coerenza con quanto stabilito per il settore L-LIN/10 e per il corso di studio triennale in Lingue e letterature straniere moderne.
Al termine del corso lo studente:
Darà prova di conoscere le coordinate teoriche e ideologiche
Avrà acquisito familiarità con gli aspetti formali, tematici e retorici dei testi esaminati
Avrà acquisito consapevolezza dei diversi modi di interpretare e leggere i testi criticamente
Avrà affinato la sua sensibilità verso le potenzialità espressive della lingua inglese.
Gli studenti sono tenuti a dimostrare una buona conoscenza del contesto STORICO POLITICO SOCIALE e LETTERARIO.
Il modulo D si sofferma sulla poesia romantica inglese interpretandola come una auto-rappresentazione mitopoietica a cui è stato successivamente attribuito uno statuto iconico.
I rapporti tra rappresentazioni culturali e identità nazionale verranno esaminati con riferimento al contesto originario e anche a quello presente.
Lezioni frontali, analisi di brani filmici, uso di diapositive PowerPoint. Gli studenti saranno sollecitati a partecipare attivamente.
Per sostenere l’esame gli studenti devono aver superato gli esami indicati nei prerequisiti.
l programma ha validità di tre anni. L’esame si svolge SOLTANTO IN FORMA SCRITTA.
Nella verifica del profitto si accerteranno:
1. il possesso delle conoscenze storico-letterarie richieste;
2. le capacità di lettura e traduzione dall'inglese in italiano dei testi assegnati;
3. la capacità di elaborare in inglese corretto, e con opportuni riferimenti ai testi discussi, una argomentazione critica sulle tematiche trattate durante il corso.
L'esame scritto di English literature III D (un solo modulo) dura 70 minuti e comprende due parti. La prima parte è costituita da un test a scelta multipla sulle fonti primarie e secondarie. Il superamento di questo test dà accesso alla seconda parte, che consiste in una breve traduzione da uno dei testi e una domanda aperta in cui agli studenti verrà chiesto di scrivere un breve saggio (1 o 2 facciate). Il voto della prova scritta è visibile nella pagina personale dello studente, che è avvisato via mail dell’avvenuta pubblicazione.
L'esame scritto di Letteratura inglese III bis (moduli C+D) dura 140 minuti. Il voto finale di Letteratura inglese III bis è dato dalla media delle valutazioni dei due moduli, che si svolgono nello stesso appello.
Criteri di valutazione per l’assegnazione del voto:
Eccellente (30 e lode): conoscenza eccellente di tutti i contenuti
del corso. Eccellente capacità di analizzare i testi e contestualizzarli in
modo appropriato. Precisione, correttezza ed efficacia dell’esposizione e
della traduzione.
Molto buono (da 30 a 27): conoscenza molto buona di tutti i contenuti
del corso. Capacità molto buona di analizzare i testi e contestualizzarli in
modo appropriato. Esposizione senza errori. Traduzione sostanzialmente
corretta.
Buono (26-24): Buona conoscenza dei contenuti del corso. Conoscenza
solo descrittiva dei testi in programma, con capacità di analisi e di sintesi
accettabile. Il linguaggio è quasi sempre corretto. Traduzione adeguata
nonostante alcuni errori.
Adeguato/sufficiente (23-18): la conoscenza dei contenuti del corso
non è completa. La capacità di analizzare i testi è limitata, ma comunque
sufficiente. Il linguaggio è semplice e sono presenti alcuni errori. La
traduzione dimostra una comprensione solo parziale del testo.
Insufficiente (meno di 18): la conoscenza dei contenuti del corso è
parziale e superficiale. I testi sono analizzati e contestualizzati in modo
superficiale e confuso. La traduzione presenta numerosi errori.
Qualora l'insegnamento venisse impartito in modalità mista o a distanza potranno essere introdotte modifiche rispetto a quanto dichiarato nel syllabus per rendere il corso e gli esami fruibili anche secondo queste modalità.
Al termine del corso il materiale didattico distribuito e presentato a lezione sarà reso disponibile in bacheca. Si ricorda che serve solo a titolo orientativo e del tutto generale. Non è assolutamente sufficiente alla preparazione dell'esame.

For students who choose the whole course of English literature III bis (modules C+D): successful completion of the exams of English Language II and either English, or Anglo-American or Postcolonial literature II.
Provide knowledge and skills essential for studying British literature and culture, as well as related critical approaches, consistent with the guidelines of the scientific sector L-LIN/10 and with the aims of the bachelor’s degree in Modern foreign languages and literatures.
At the end of the course, students:
Will demonstrate knowledge of the theoretical and ideological framework
Will have acquired familiarity with the formal, thematic and rhetorical features of each text
Will have developed an enhanced awareness of various reading approaches to each text
Will have refined their sensitivity to the expressive potential of the English language.
Students are expected to show a firm knowledge of the HISTORICAL, POLITICAL, SOCIAL and LITERARY context.
Module D focuses on Romantic poetry, seen as a myth-making self-representation later granted an iconic status.
The relationship between cultural representations and national identity will be examined focusing on the original context as well as on the present one.
Lectures, film clips analysis, use of PowerPoint slides. Students will be asked to actively participate.
In order to take the exam students must have successfully completed the exams listed in the prerequisites.
The program is valid for three years. Students will be assessed ONLY VIA A WRITTEN EXAM.
Required skills for exam:
1. students must show adequate knowledge of the literary and cultural contexts for the issues discussed in the course;
2. students are expected to read all the texts in English and should be able to translate them into Italian;
3. students must be able to discuss texts critically with reference to the issues addressed in the course.
The written exam of English literature III D (just one module) lasts 70 minutes and comprises two parts. The first part is a multiple-choice test on primary and secondary sources. Successful completion of this test gives access to the second part, consisting of a short translation from one of the texts and an open question, where students will be asked to write a brief essay (1 to 2 pages long). Students will be notified via email once exam results have been posted on their webpage.
The written exam of Letteratura inglese III bis (modules C+D) lasts 140 minutes. The final mark of Letteratura inglese III bis is the average of the two modules’ evaluations, which take place within the same session.
Evaluation criteria for the attribution of grades:
Outstanding (30 e lode): excellent knowledge of all of the contents of the
course. Excellent ability to analyze the texts and to contextualize them in
an appropriate way. The student uses the academic writing register/style
with appropriate linguistic terminologies. The translation is correct.
Very good (30 to 27): very good knowledge of all of the contents of the
course. Very good ability to analyse the texts and to contextualize them
in an appropriate way. The translation contains hardly any mistakes.
Good (26-24): Good knowledge of the contents of the course. Adequate
ability to describe the texts. The language used is simple but correct. The
translation is passable.
Fair/sufficient (23-18): The work has sufficient knowledge, coherence, use
of appropriate resources and quality of presentation to warrant a basic
pass. The ability to analyse the texts is not wholly satisfactory. The
work is very descriptive and does not fully address the issues raised by
the question. The translation is not wholly satisfactory.
Fail (below 18): The student demonstrates only a basic awareness of the
contents of the course. The work is frequently confused and incoherent.
Both the essay and the translation contain inaccuracies and major
errors.
In case blended or distance learning should be adopted it may be necessary to make adjustments and introduce changes so that the course and the final exam can be easily accessible.
Class handouts and slides will be made available online at the end of the course. Students are reminded that they are provided only as general guidelines. They are by no means sufficient for preparing the exam.
