Cultural contaminations: literature and religion.
The course intends to explore the contamination between literature and religion in modern and contemporary French literature, analyzing authors and works that present an imaginary strongly crossed by religion, both on an intertextual and ideological level as well as linked to the creation of the characters. Between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries we witness on the one hand the attraction for the supernatural in its many forms, on the other hand the progressive affirmation of the Catholic novel.
The teaching will take place through frontal lessons in French, with attention also to the debate between and with the students. The participation of students may also be envisaged with the presentation of exposés.
Oral exam in french language. The skills requested are:
- Critical readings of the texts proposed by the course (primary and secondary);
- Knowledge of the cultural and literary background to the texts proposed;
- Capacity of students to read all the texts in French and to translate them into Italian.
The course will take place in the second semester.
On the day of the exam, students are asked to come with books.
