The course is focused on
the understanding of conscious and unconscious dynamics of groups, organizations and institutions.
In the course both theoretical and practical aspects related to the psychodynamics of group and organizational processes will be studied in depth.
The contents of the course concern:
- the meaning and characteristics of group, organization and institution;
- the variables that define a group, (what is visible and invisible inside a group/organization);
- the psychodynamic interpretation of groups and organizations;
- theoretical and methodological aspects for designing and realizing a psychological intervention inside a group/organization
The methods used during the course are:
- frontal lessons;
- reading groups;
- group exercises;
- paper discussions and presentations.
Attending students will be evaluated on:
- Exercises, discussions (10%): engagement and quality of group exercises and discussions in class
- Presentation of book chapters (30%): students are asked to present in group one/two chapter(s) of a book
- Final exam, a text of around 3000 words (60%): students are asked to present an essay based on a title provided by the professor
Not attending students will be evaluated on a written exam with three open questions based on the contents of the bibliography
If the teaching would be given in mixed or remote mode, changes may be introduced with respect to what is stated in the syllabus to make the course and exams usable also in these ways.
