Stefano Coniglio received his Ph.D. in Information Technology in 2011 from Politecnico di Milano. After carrying out research abroad for 10 years (for 3.5 years as a postdoc at RWTH Aachen, Germany, and for 6.5 years as a lecturer and then as associate professor at the University of Southampton, UK), he moved back to Italy joining the University of Bergamo.
His research interests revolve around the development of exact optimization algorithms, with focus on discrete and bilevel optimization problems, and on the development of machine learning models and algorithms. His work has applications in a number of areas, including algorithmic game theory, telecommunication networks, energy production, and data science.
Over the past 10 years, he has consulted and supervised projects for companies including National Grid Plc, UK MetOffice, Airbus, Babcock International, British Telecom, and CESI, and made research visits to universities and research centers uch as Carnegie-Mellon University, Lehigh University, Université Paris-Dauphine, Università La Sapienza Roma, and Zuse Institute Berlin.
