Barbara Sena is Associate Professor at University of Bergamo since 2022. Her European Ph.D was completed in Socio-Economic and Statistical Studies in Sapienza University of Rome. She was researcher at Unitelma Sapienza University and she previously taught at University of Aquila and Pontifical University of St.Thomas in Rome. She was Visiting Researcher and Professor at Universities in Germany, Belgium, Spain, Brasil and Chile.
She is particularly interested in methodology of social research and in sociology of health and medicine. In the last years her research focused on the nursing profession, interprofessional care, breast cancer, vaccination hesitancy, palliative care and case study approach.
Among her recent publications are: “Managing the end of life in COVID patients. The role of palliative care in emergency departments during the pandemic”, in Frontiers in Sociology (with E. De Luca, 2022); “Questioning and disputing vaccination policies. Scientists and experts in the Italian public debate”, in Bulletin of Science, Technology & Society (with G. Gobo, 2022); “Il case study nella ricerca sociale” (Carocci, 2021).
